Do It Yourself – Patched Denim

DIY-Patched-Denim-Dyandra-Raye

Patched jeans are back in full swing, like the 80’s, the more patches the better. I have a ton of denim that I don’t wear, truth is I find jeans uncomfortable, so I decided to update a normally unworn pair of flared jeans. A lot of trends are easy to recreate using items in your closet for a fraction of the price. Details on how to DIY Patched Denim are below!

I mixed and matched patches from Ritual Ritual and Target. The prices ranged from $1.00 to 12.00 depending on the patch. My personal favorite is the “owe you nothing patch” that pretty much sums up my whole demeanor! I quickly ironed them on, pressing them for a few minutes each patch. Put a towel on top to protect the patches from burning. If you want to get really fancy sew them on with a thick needle & thread using a basic running stitch. If that made no sense stick with the iron!

I accessorized with all black to play off these standout additions. I wore a black tank & versatile vest, which I often wear as a dress, and black heels. A printed bag brought the whole ensemble together. I threw on a choker to compliment this retro inspired look. The 80’s are back with a vengeance in the fashion world.
